3 Ways You Can Become an Intercessor for Indonesia

·

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—” 1 Timothy 2:1

“Worship and intercession must go together; one is impossible without the other. Intercession means raising ourselves up to the point of getting the mind of Christ regarding the person for whom we are praying.” – Oswald Chambers

Over 170 million Indonesians are still in spiritual darkness. They have not heard about the love of Christ yet because there are very few believers among them and not enough people praying for them. We need more intercessors for Indonesia who will pray for their hearts to be opened and for God to send more believers to share the Good News with them. Would you consider becoming an intercessor for Indonesia by committing to one (or all) of the 3 ways below?

Commit to pray daily, weekly, or monthly

It is easy to have a desire to pray regularly for Indonesia, but quickly forget to do it when life becomes so busy. One helpful way to remind yourself to pray is to set a reminder on your phone or calendar. Whichever commitment you want to make, set a reminder on that day of the month/week, or time each day to pray. Pray for just a few minutes specifically for Indonesia and ask God to lead you in what to pray. Pretty soon your heart will be softened towards Indonesians, and your desire for Indonesians to know Jesus will increase.

Adopt an unreached people group

You and/or your bible study or church can “adopt” an unreached people group in Indonesia to pray regularly for. Do research about that unreached people group. Where are they located in Indonesia? What are their lives like? Are there any church-planting teams focused on reaching them? What are their specific needs? Visit Joshua Project to see all the unreached people groups in Indonesia and detailed information about each one. You can connect with long term workers among that people group and even plan short term trips to do prayer walks and share the gospel with the people.

Pray for Muslims during Ramadan

Ramadan is one of the five requirements (or pillars) of Islam. During each of its 30 days, Muslims are obligated to fast from dawn until sunset. Many Muslims seek spirituality more during this month, so it is a crucial time to be praying for them! Ramadan 2022 will be from April 2 – May 2 this year. There are prayer movements happening all over the world for Muslims during Ramadan. You can sign up for 15 minute prayer slots that month to pray specifically for Muslims in Indonesia to hear about the love and grace of Christ. See the Indonesia Ramadan site to know more about this movement and get involved!
