Patience is a virtue that enables Christians to remain resilient in the face of uncertainty. It provides a sense of stability amidst chaos. By cultivating patience, we can navigate challenges with grace, trust in God, and find strength in waiting.

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

Psalm 46:10 offers a profound message of the serenity to be found in God during turbulent times. The ancient hymn serves as a beacon of wisdom and guidance for modern believers. Its verses invite us to pause, reflect, and acknowledge the presence of God in the midst of life’s storms. Today, we will accept this invitation and unravel the power of patience in God, even when in times of uncertainty.

Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God”, invites us to find peace and trust in God’s sovereignty.

The command to “be still” goes beyond physical stillness; it calls for a spiritual calmness, a surrender of control, and a cessation of striving. By being still, we can open ourselves to the presence of God, acknowledging His power and authority over all circumstances.

In this song, the psalmist invites us to let go of fear. Including our own efforts and embrace an awareness of God’s presence over our lives.

Trusting in God’s sovereignty allows us to release our anxieties, find peace, and strengthen our faith in God’s ability to guide us. This stillness practice fosters clarity, and resilience, enabling us to navigate uncertainty with peace and assurance in God’s ultimate plan.

The Bible emphasizes patience as a virtue that leads to peace, clarity, and strength during challenging times. James 5:7-8 encourages us to be patient in waiting for the Lord’s return, like the farmer’s patience for the harvest.

“Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.”

Through patience, we can find peace by trusting in God’s timing and sovereignty, knowing that He works all things for our good. (Romans 8:28)

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

In addition, this trust in God brings clarity, helping us see beyond our immediate circumstances. Helping us understand the bigger picture of His purpose. As a result, we exercise patience as an act of laying down our belief in our own abilities to manage unruly lives. Ultimately, cultivating patience through choosing stillness before God echoes the prayer of our Savior in Gethsemane:

“Not my will but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42).

The Scriptures offer practical tips and strategies for developing patience in daily life. Such as seeking wisdom and guidance through prayer and meditation on God’s Word.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him” (James 1:5)

Cultivating a spirit of gratitude can help us maintain a patient attitude, recognizing God’s blessings even in challenging times.

“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Embracing humility and gentleness in interactions with others fosters patience. We see this in Ephesians 4:2, which encourages us to bear with one another in love.

“I, therefore, the prisoner for the Lord, urge you to live worthily of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, putting up with one another in love“

Additionally, practicing self-control and relying on the Holy Spirit for strength can empower believers to exhibit patience in all circumstances, as highlighted in Galatians 5:22-23.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

On the path of this life, we regularly encounter obstacles to patience, such as fear, doubt, and the desire for immediate results. Fear can lead to impatience by causing us to doubt God’s plan and timing, tempting us to act hastily and anxiously. Doubt can erode patience by undermining our trust in God’s promises, leading to a lack of endurance in waiting for His perfect timing. Our human desire for quick fixes and control can hinder the development of patience by clouding our perspective on God’s sovereignty and faithfulness. Overcoming these obstacles requires a deepening of faith, a surrender of fears and doubts to God, and a conscious effort to trust in His wisdom and timing.

The Bible emphasizes the significance of patience as a virtue that leads to peace, clarity, and strength during uncertain times. Scriptures like James 1:2-4

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

and Romans 15:5

“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus”

highlight how patience is developed through trials, leading to spiritual maturity and a deeper connection with God. By pursuing patience, believers can find peace in waiting, endure tribulations with grace, and trust in God’s timing for his provision

” I waited patiently for the Lord;
he inclined to me and heard my cry.
He drew me up from the pit of destruction,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the Lord” (Psalm 40:1-3)

The Bible teaches that patience is not merely about waiting but about enduring with faith and trust in God’s plan.

As Isaiah 40:31 says,

“but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength…they shall walk and not faint”

We encourage you to reflect on Psalm 46:10 as a powerful reminder to be still and know that God is in control, especially during the hard times. Embracing patience as a source of strength and resilience can help you navigate challenges with peace.

Firstly, God has given us a divine call in our walk with Christ. Jesus’ words before His ascension are not mere suggestions but a mandate for every believer. The Lord calls us to receive power, not for our own glory, but to be witnesses of Christ’s love and salvation. This power ought to move us into action in our communities, cities, and beyond. He calls us to be witnesses of Him, living testimonies of how the gospel sets people free to know and love God.

Radical faith is not comfortable or convenient; it requires stepping out of our comfort zones and trusting in God’s provision. It’s about believing in the impossible, knowing that all things are possible with God. As we step out in faith, we open ourselves up to opportunities to see the Holy Spirit move in power. Not only that, but this passionate, willing-to-do-anything faith opens the door to knowing God more intimately.

As we seek to walk in the power of the Spirit, we see that the Holy Spirit is not a distant force but an ever-present help. He empowers us to speak boldly, love unconditionally, and impact lives for eternity. As we yield to His leading, miracles happen, hearts transform, and lives change forever.

To put it simply, He can do things through us that we could never achieve on our own! Let’s not forget that the power described in Acts 1:8 is not only for first-century Christians, but is for us. He is among us now, moving in power, and leading us to be His witnesses.

The mission outlined in Acts 1:8 is both local and global. The Lord has called us to be witnesses in our immediate surroundings – our Jerusalem – reaching out to our families, friends, and neighbors with the message of hope.

But our mission does not stop there; we are also called to go beyond borders, to share the gospel in all Judea and Samaria, and ultimately to the ends of the earth. But how do we cultivate this desire for the lost?

Living a life on mission looks like being intentional about sharing the love of Christ wherever we go. It means seeing every interaction as an opportunity to point others to Jesus. Whether it’s through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, or simply being present for someone in need, we create opportunities for further spiritual conversation when we live as Christ’s hands and feet in a broken world.

As we reflect on Acts 1:8 and its implications for our lives, let’s be inspired to walk in the fullness of the power of the Holy Spirit. Let’s go forward with courage and conviction, knowing that we are called to be witnesses of Christ’s love to a world in desperate need. May our lives be a living testimony to the transformative power of God at work in and around us.

Romans Chapter 8 is a treasure trove of spiritual wisdom and assurance. The Apostle Paul provides a profound understanding of the Christian faith, focusing on the victory we have in Christ. There’s a powerful message encapsulated in verse 31: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)

In this post, we’ll explore the power and assurance that comes from having God on our side, which the Bible says is true of all those who call Jesus Lord. We’ll share some biblical truths that remind us of the ultimate victory we have through Christ’s finished work. With every step, we will uncover the strength and confidence that emerges when we trust in God’s promises.

So, join us as we embark on this journey of exploring the reality that nothing can stand against us when God is for us. Get ready to embrace victory in Christ and discover our Heavenly Father’s unwavering support and love.

On the pavement of this world, we encounter challenges and obstacles that can leave us feeling dejected. The same has been true of every God-follower since just east of Eden. During these times, we must remember that the war has been won and God is the victor.

Victory, in a spiritual context, goes beyond just overcoming difficulties – it’s about experiencing the power and presence of God in our lives. And it’s about reflecting the God we’ve known to a watching world, even in the face of intense hardship. The Bible teaches that trials and tribulations have the power to refine our character and to transform us into the image of his Son, if we cooperate.

James 1 exhorts us:

“My brothers and sisters, consider it nothing but joy when you fall into all sorts of trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect effect, so that you will be perfect and complete, not deficient in anything (James 1:2-4).

Victory for the Christian, then, is redefined. It doesn’t mean pleasant circumstances all or even much of the time. The Author and Perfecter of the faith promised us,

“In the world you will have trouble and suffering. But take courage – I have conquered the world” (John 16:33).

But through these troubles we have the opportunity to know him better. In his letter to the Philippians, Paul expressed a desire to know Christ better not only through his resurrection but also through his suffering.

“My aim is to know him, to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings, and to be like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead” (Philippians 3:10).

When we walk in this newly defined victory, we understand that the battles we face are not ours alone and that they are infused with supernatural purpose. We endeavor to behave like Jesus did when he faced enemies and opposition. The Almighty God fights for us and no doubt foils many attacks aimed at us, but he also provides the strength and guidance we need to reflect his character as we overcome. This assurance allows us to face challenges confidently, knowing that we have an unfailing source of support whether or not God chooses to change our circumstances in the way we hope.

One of the greatest assurances we have for walking in victory is the presence and power of God. Throughout the Bible, we see countless examples of God’s power displayed in the lives of his people, bringing about miraculous victories. From the parting of the Red Sea to the walls of Jericho tumbling down, from the answering of Hannah’s prayer for a child to Elijah’s calling down fire from heaven, these stories remind us that nothing is impossible when God is for us.

The pages of the Bible are filled with stories of victory through God’s intervention. One such example is the story of David and Goliath. Against all odds, a young shepherd boy defeated a giant warrior because he had unwavering faith in God. This story reminds us that it’s not about our strength or abilities but about trusting in the power of God.

Another example is the Israelites’ journey through the wilderness. Despite their doubts and fears, God provided for them every step of the way. He led them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, ensuring their safety and guiding them to the promised land. This story teaches us that even in the wilderness seasons of our lives, God is faithful to lead us to victory.

When Jesus walked the earth, he intervened in people’s lives according to their requests and their measure of faith. He cast out demons, healed the sick, and commanded nature several times. The gospel of Mark records this beautiful interaction with a blind man named Bartimaeus:

“They came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus the son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road. When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to shout, ‘Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!’ Many scolded him to get him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, ‘Son of David, have mercy on me!’ Jesus stopped and said, ‘Call him.’ So they called the blind man and said to him, ‘Have courage! Get up! He is calling you.’ He threw off his cloak, jumped up, and came to Jesus. Then Jesus said to him, ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ The blind man replied, ‘Rabbi, let me see again.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Go, your faith has healed you.’ Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the road” (Mark 10:46-52).

God’s promises to be present with us through difficult times are equally encouraging.

Isaiah recorded these hope-filled words straight from the mouth of God:

“When you pass through the waters, I am with you; when you pass through the streams, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not harm you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your deliverer” (Isaiah 43:2-3).

King David, also, wrote of God’s presence with us through dangerous terrain:

“Even when I must walk through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff reassure me. You prepare a feast before me, in plain sight of my enemies. You refresh my head with oil; my cup is completely full (Psalm 23:4-5).

Knowing that God is always with us gives us the confidence to meet any situation. We can find comfort in His promises, knowing that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). When we are in Christ, we can be assured that we are never alone in our battles. Indeed, “he is sustaining all things by his powerful word” (Hebrews 1:3).

Fear and doubt are common emotions we experience when facing challenges or feeling alone. However, when we are in Christ and know God is for us, we can overcome these potentially paralyzing emotions. The Bible reminds us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). The Scriptures are replete with admonitions against fear:

“When you lie down you will not be filled with fear; when you lie down your sleep will be pleasant. Do not be afraid of sudden disaster or when destruction overtakes the wicked; for the Lord will be the source of your confidence, and he will guard your foot from being caught in a trap” (Proverbs 3:24-26).

“Even all the hairs on your head are numbered. So do not be afraid; you are more valuable than many sparrows” (Matthew 10:30-31).

When we find ourselves doubting, we should be honest with God about our feelings. He already knows them, so there is little use in us pretending faith when we’re faltering. We can, however, ask him to help our unbelief! Consider this honest, desperate man who encountered Jesus on the dusty roads of ancient Israel:

“If you are able to do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Then Jesus said to him, “‘If you are able?’ All things are possible for the one who believes.” Immediately the father of the boy cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:23-24).

We can always turn to God’s Word for reassurance as well. The promises he has given us are a source of hope and encouragement. Like the old hymn says: “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of his glory and grace.” By meditating on God’s promises and speaking them over our lives, we can replace fear and doubt with faith and confidence.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Clothe yourselves with the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:10).

Trusting in God’s plan for our lives is essential to walking in the victory he desires for us. We may not always understand why specific challenges come our way, and we may not always feel like he is for us, but we can trust that God has a purpose for everything. His plans for us are good, and he promises to work all things together for our good (Romans 8:28).

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

When we trust in God’s plan, we surrender our desires, agendas, and even our understanding. We acknowledge that His ways are higher than ours, and His thoughts are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). This level of surrender allows us to experience true victory as we align ourselves with God’s perfect will for our lives.

Prayer and worship are powerful tools for strengthening our faith and walking in the knowledge that if he is for us, no one can be against us. Through prayer, we communicate with God, pouring out our hearts and seeking His guidance. In these moments of intimacy with Him, we can find peace and clarity.

“Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

Worship, on the other hand, allows us to focus on the greatness of God. As we lift our voices in praise, we are reminded of His faithfulness and power. Worship shifts our perspective from our problems to the one who is able to overcome them all. It refreshes our faith and fills us with the confidence we need to walk in victory.

Psalm 103 is a perfect template for praising God by rehearsing who he is and all the wonderful things he’s done.

Praise the Lord, O my soul. Do not forget all his kind deeds.

who satisfies your life with good things, so your youth is renewed like an eagle’s.

The Lord does what is fair, and executes justice for all the oppressed.

The Lord revealed his faithful acts to Moses, his deeds to the Israelites.

The Lord is compassionate and merciful; he is patient and demonstrates great loyal love.

He does not always accuse and does not stay angry.

He does not deal with us as our sins deserve; he does not repay us as our misdeeds deserve.

For as the skies are high above the earth, so his loyal love towers over his faithful followers.

As far as the eastern horizon is from the west, so he removes the guilt of our rebellious actions from us.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on his faithful followers.

For he knows what we are made of; he realizes we are made of clay.

A person’s life is like grass. Like a flower in the field it flourishes, but when the hot wind blows, it disappears, and one can no longer even spot the place where it once grew.

But the Lord continually shows loyal love to his faithful followers and is faithful to their descendants, to those who keep his covenant, who are careful to obey his commands.

The Lord has established his throne in heaven; his kingdom extends over everything.

Praise the Lord, you angels of his, you powerful warriors who carry out his decrees and obey his orders.

Praise the Lord, all you warriors of his, you servants of his who carry out his desires.

Praise the Lord, all that he has made,in all the regions of his kingdom.

Praise the Lord, O my soul.”

The abundant life Jesus promised requires obedience and surrender to God’s will. When we obey his commands and follow his guidance, we position ourselves to abundantly receive what it means for God to be for us. Obedience is not always easy, but it is necessary to experience the fullness of victory God has in store.

Jesus himself said,

“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do what I tell you? Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and puts them into practice—I will show you what he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on bedrock. When a flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it because it had been well built” (Luke 6:46-47).

Surrender is closely linked to obedience. It’s about relinquishing our desires and submitting to God’s plans. When we surrender to Him, we acknowledge He is in control and knows better than we do. These acts of submission come with a promise from the book of James:

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

Walking in victory is not meant to be a solitary journey. God created us for community, and the support of others plays a crucial role in our pursuit of victorious living in Christ. Surrounding ourselves with like-minded believers can provide encouragement, accountability, and prayer support.

King Solomon, the person the Bible calls the wisest on earth, said these things about the importance of community:

“As iron sharpens iron, so a person sharpens his friend” (Proverbs 27:17).

“Although an assailant may overpower one person, two can withstand him. Moreover, a three-stranded cord is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12).

Through fellowship with the family of God, we can share our struggles and victories, finding strength in knowing that we are not alone. Together we can lift each other up, offering support and speaking truth into one another’s lives. Community helps us navigate life’s challenges and reminds us that we are part of a larger body, united in our pursuit of victory in Christ. Again the Apostle Paul instructs us:

“Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).

The promise “If God is for us, who can be against us?” is not just a comforting statement but a powerful declaration of faith. It reminds us that no matter what we face, we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us. It is a call to live boldly, secure in the knowledge that nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:37-39).

Understanding the victory we have in Christ should spur us to live radically for the sake of the gospel. God calls us to make disciples of all nations, proclaim his excellencies, and share his love with those around us no matter the cost. If he is for us, we have nothing to fear in living out his purposes.

We pray these truths will inspire you, deepen your faith, and fortify your resolve to live according to the victory that’s yours!

The post Undefeatable: If God Is For Us Who Can Be Against Us? first appeared on Pray For Indonesia.

3 Prayers for Indonesian Christians

1. “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). – Matthew 1:23

Lord, we pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being persecuted for their faith in You. Help them remain steadfast in their love for you and draw near to You this Christmas. Remind them that You are Immanuel, God with us. You are taking care of them and providing for their needs.

2. “Since we have such a hope, we are very bold.” – 2 Corinthians 3:12

Give Indonesians a boldness to share their faith with others this Christmas with the strength that only comes from You. We pray for many opportunities for them to share the Christmas story with their families, neighbors, friends and coworkers.

3. “so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Romans 15:6

Unify the Indonesian Church in Your name, Jesus. Give them all a desire to take the gospel to every UPG in Indonesia and help them work together to accomplish that task. We pray more and more churches would be trained to share the gospel with Muslims.

3 Prayers for Indonesian Muslims

4. “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” – 2 Corinthians 10:4

Father, tear down barriers of Islam and the stronghold it has on this country. We pray the 220 million Muslims would find freedom in Christ from the bondage of Islam.

5. “Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.” – Hebrews 1:1-2

Give Muslims a desire to read the Bible and learn more about Jesus. Reveal yourself to them, Lord, through believers proclaiming the Gospel, media ministries, dreams, and miracles.

6. “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen” – Galatians 1:3–5

Help Indonesian Muslims understand that Jesus is God and died for the forgiveness of sins. He wasn’t just a prophet, but the Savior of the world who is worthy of all worship. God, draw Muslims to Yourself this Christmas. We pray they would want to know Truth, hear the Christmas story and understand why Jesus came to earth as a baby. This was Your plan from the beginning, Lord. Reveal it to Indonesians.

The post 6 Bible Verses to Lead You in Praying for Indonesians this Christmas first appeared on Pray For Indonesia.

Do you want to make a difference in the world? Do you want to take part in the amazing work God is doing all over the world? You can start today by praying! Prayer is the most effective way to change the world. Here are 10 ways you can be involved in God’s work.

1. Start praying for the lost

Acts 26:18 – To open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

Not only is Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world, but also has 5 other major religions; Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism. There are still millions of people who are lost devoting their lives to false gods and religions. Most have never heard the good news of Jesus and many have never even heard the name of Jesus. Pray for God to open their eyes so that they receive the forgiveness of sins through Jesus who died for them and rose from the grave.

2. Pray specifically for the UPGs

Psalm 96:3 – Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

According to Joshua Project, an unreached people group (UPG) is “a people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group without outside assistance.” Out of the 789 people groups in Indonesia, 235 are still unreached.

Pray for God to send believers to these unreached people groups to share the gospel and disciple new believers. Pray His glory would spread to every people group and they would hear of His marvelous deeds. Intercede for the 7 largest UPGs in Indonesia.

3. Pray for more local laborers

Matthew 9:37-38 – Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

The harvest is plentiful in Indonesia and there are still many more lost sheep who God will bring into the Kingdom! Jesus has told us to pray for more laborers to be sent out into the harvest. Let’s pray God raises up laborers from churches, from other nations, and even from Muslim families.

These workers will finish the task in Indonesia by proclaiming the gospel, discipling new believers, and planting churches. There needs to be faithful gospel workers in every people group who know the heart language of that people group and will spread the gospel among them.

4. Pray for the persecuted

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:10–12

5. Pray for the gospel to spread like wildfire

“Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you” 2 Thessalonians 3:1

Ask the Holy Spirit to do the same work in Indonesia as He did in the early days of the church. Pray for the gospel to spread rapidly through believers going and sharing Truth in every island, people group and village in Indonesia. May every man, woman, and child hear the gospel in our lifetime!

6. Pray for a country a day

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10

Operation World is a great resource to start praying for the nations. They have very detailed information for each county, their needs, and how to be praying for them. Not only are you learning about the different countries but you can touch every part of the world through praying for the nations. God will hear and answer your prayers!

7. Pray for new believers in Indonesia to grow in their faith

“Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith.” Philippians 3:8-9

So many Muslims who place their faith in Jesus fall away and stop following Him after experiencing pressure and persecution from their families and communities. Pray boldly for these new believers to remain steadfast in their faith! Pray for them to be discipled and endure when persecution comes. Ask for them to see the immeasurable worth of following Christ that they are willing to lose their families or even their own lives to follow Him.

8. Pray for the churches

“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.” 1 Corinthians 1:10

Many churches in Indonesia are more inward focused than outward. Pray for the churches to rise up and share boldly with Muslims. Ask for unity in the churches and that they would work together to reach their country and send workers to UPGs in Indonesia.

9. Pray for the workers/church planters

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

It is hard to be a church planter in Indonesia. You face constant discouragement and rejection and do not receive a large salary. Pray for Indonesian church-planters to rise up and go to the places where there are no churches. Ask God to lead them to persons of peace. Pray for foreign workers and church-planters to work well with Indonesians to reach their people.

10. Pray for dreams and miracles

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.” Joel 2:28

Many Muslim background believers (MBB) share that Jesus appeared to them in a dream before they were believers. In many cases, a Muslim has a dream of Jesus around the time they were evangelized. Dreams and visions of Jesus are a crucial part of many MBBs testimonies.

Muslims have also come to faith by witnessing a miracle in their life by someone praying in the name of Jesus. Maybe it was physical healing, financial provision or another inexplicable act that had to be from the Divine. God is still using miracles today to reach Muslims. Pray for Indonesians to have dreams of Jesus and witness miracles that will lead them to turn to Christ.

The post 10 Ways You Can Be Involved in God’s Work – Part 1 first appeared on Pray For Indonesia.

As followers of Christ we are called upon to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ. It is our calling to pray for the lost souls in this world, we don’t have to know who they are to know they are lost, and in need of a Savior. Here are some Bible verses about praying for the lost:

1 Kings 8:29-30

“…that your eyes may be open night and day toward this house, the place of which you have said, ‘My name shall be there,’ that you may listen to the prayer that your servant offers toward this place. And listen to the plea of your servant and of your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. And listen in heaven your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive.”

Nehemiah 1:6

“Let your ear be attentive and your eyes open, to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for the people of Israel your servants, confessing the sins of the people of Israel, which we have sinned against you. Even I and my father’s house have sinned.”

Isaiah 56:7

“..these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

Jeremiah 29:7

“But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.”

Matthew 5:44

“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you…”

John 17:20-21

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”

Luke 6:28

“Bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.”

Luke 10:2

“And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

Acts 26:18

“to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.”

Acts 28:8

“It happened that the father of Publius lay sick with fever and dysentery. And Paul visited him and prayed, and putting his hands on him, healed him.”

Romans 10:1

“Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.”

2 Thessalonians 3:1

“Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you…”

1 Timothy 2:1-4

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
